Girtha Gunter Coffey, 83, of Horace Rice Road, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was a native of Madison County and daughter of the late Dave and Hazel Payne Gunter. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Anderson B. Coffey; infant son, David Jerome Coffey; sister, Trula; brothers, Preston, Z.G., Talmadge, Bruce, R.B. and David Gunter. She was a member of Sexton Baptist Church. Mrs. Coffey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and her Lord.
She is survived by her children, Ann Coffey, Charles Sr. (Jackie), Ronnie (Cindy) and Freddie Coffey; brothers and sisters; Junior, Judy, Barbara and Dexter; grandchildren, Jeremy (Charlita) Charles Jr. (Amanda) Scotty and Wendi; great grandchildren, Colton, Chloe, Blake, Peyton, Logan, Paysley and Landrey, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Reverends Ken Parker and Weldon Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Gabriel’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00PM Friday at the funeral home.
